NB Real Run results!

The Real Run results are out...but it takes quite long to load the site though...must be too many ppl trying to access at the same time...

Here are the sites...
Men's Open
Women's Open

Eh..not too sure abt the results for the other categories...

I did quite well...59:33, which puts me at 74th placing out of 948 who completed :D...btw, the placing they gave is based on gun time...not net time! I think those who received medals on that day are based on gun time too...no wonder my fren was complaining to me abt net time and gun time...din really catch her then as she was in a rush to leave too...

Anyway, my gun time is 1:00:06 instead of the 1:00:00 I saw on the clock...wonder why...*scratch head*

Some stats among those who completed the run...

Women's open (n=947)
Range = 41:31-2:09:37
Median = 1:17:33

Men's open (n=3058), includes those with bib no starting with MO and HT
Range = 34:19-2:05:18
Median = 1:03:24

Vaccinations

In preparation for the upcoming YEP trip to Sri Lanka, I had to take some vaccinations...since the last time I took any jab was 5 years ago for Hep B and more than 10 years ago for all other jabs which I can't rem...only rem BCG because of the scar...hehe ;)

Got poke 4 times today!! First poke to draw blood to test for Hep B antibody...then followed by 3 consecutive pokes...2 on the left arm, 1 on the right...tetanus, typhoid and Hep B...
Now my left arm is aching...must be the tetanus jab...hate that achy feeling man!!!

Tomorrow morning gg Sentosa to run with Jayce...wonder how far I can run with this achy arm...

New Balance Real Run

Woke up early again today!!
Always wake up earlier on weekends because of all this activities unrelated with my studies or work...hehe...dun dare to tell my supervisor abt all this liao...later she won't let me go Sri Lanka for the YEP trip...let's hope she doesn't read my blog :P

Got a ride from TLR to Sentosa...together with Philip, Taz and Fd :D
When we got to Sentosa at abt 7.05am...the Visitor Center carpark was full liao...but some ingenious guy decided to start their own parking lots in the center of the carpark...so we joined them...hehe ;)
Met up with many other runners (Carine, Balasing, Alvo, Meteor, Renohtaram etc etc) who just arrived or wanted to "tumpang" their bags in TLR's car ...then we went over to Cinemania to wait for the start of the race...many more runners came to join us...wah...so many ppl...can't rem who was there liao...a long long list...

When it was abt 8.20am we started moving towards the starting line...the first horn was for the Junior event...at abt 8.45am...the second horn sounded...but I was not right in front...so walked a bit first b4 I could start running...

kops21 was supposed to be the last man...but after 1km or so...while we were gg up the slope towards the satellite station...he couldn't help but overtake me...wah..kops21...u bluff me...say u gg to walk the first km :P So I just run and run...getting overtake a lot..but occasionally I also overtake others :D
I tend to get overtake a lot when I go downhill...I hate downhill slopes...tend to slow down while others are speeding up...oops...

Got to the end of Tanjong Beach (is it the 4.5km mark?) at abt 24 mins I think...just rem still on track to finish the race in 1 hour...then it was the sand...super trampled on already!!! Oh well...just run the best that I can...dun care ;)

By the time I finished the sandy leg...ard the 7km mark...it was abt 42 mins into the race...gotta run fast to finish within one hour!!! At least no more sand :D
So I just ran and ran and ran through the trail section...and finally I was arriving at the finishing line....saw the clock...it was 59 mins 40 plus seconds...sprinted until I was almost at the finishing line...stopped under the clock at 59:59...then crossed it at 1:00:00...haha...so boliao...just had to cross it at exactly one hour...but I think my chip time shld be shorter...since I crossed the starting line later?

After the race, met a few Kentridgean...Godwin (saw him earlier while running up the slope towards the beach), Gabriel Tay, Chang Ching and Valerie??!! (she's not running lah...she's with Sportsmag now...hanging ard to interview ppl for her magazine...so introduced her to TLR to promote Sgrunners ;D) Oh ya...I saw Chee See somewhere during the race too but she din see me I guess...Huiyao was with New Balance...saw him before the race but not after...

The sgrunners had a photo taken...then were about to leave at the carpark...when suddenly Alvo came to tell Carine she has gotten 13th position...can go collect her medal ;) CONGRATS CARINE :D

Behind banner: (from left) DreamRunner, yojanjan, Menmoch, renohtaram, kops21, Cyberkinetic, DO, Meteor, Carine, Alvo, balasing aka muggs, Philip (behind mugg), Taz, Skyvers1810, deathscythe99, BrokenRunner, BrokenRunner's sis, ?not sure
In front of banner: (from left) TLR, Fd, me (penguin), tiwazz, Jess, Kay

Can someone help me fill up the those that I'm not sure...correct me if I got anyone's name wrong? Do I need to put Charlier Brown on the picture...hehe?

After that, I left for Suntec to check out some Salomon stuff...bought lunch and dinner...then headed home...some of the Sgrunners had breakfast/lunch together...I gotta come back and study!! Din study much yesterday :(

Till the next race coming weekend...NB aquathlon...then Mizuno Wave Run...

Busy saturday

Yesterday was a boring day...except for the Chem Safety Test...which I hope I passed!!! If not, no transponder for me :(
...I was home alone last night too...wonder wat time my housemate came back...no sign of her when I slept at 11.30pm...

Today...I woke early again...this time for a nature walk with the participants of the upcoming YEP trip to Sri Lanka in Sept...it's a turtle conservation trip...so our leader organized some nature related type of activities every weekend for us...team bonding sessions :D Time is pretty limited liao...
Anyway, today's walk was a Bukit Timah Reserve...we walked at the cycling path...supposed to head towards Dairy Farm but I think we cut short a lot because of the many stops we made :)
We also checked out the visitor center to get some ideas on how to set up something similar for tourists visiting the turtle conservation site in Sri Lanka ;)
Merey, our team leader, brought her little boy, Reef (I wonder if it's spelled this way)...but she name him after coral reef...since she's a nature lover ;) Reef has a bear called Coral...hehe...Reef is so cute...but rather quiet though...couldn't get him to say hello to us in the morning...but after 3 hrs of warming up...after we had lunch and were about to go our separate ways...he waved and said goodbye to us...hehe....food does miracle!!! ;)
The other participants I met today were Hang Chong (the facilitator), Jasmine and Swee Yin (not sure abt the spelling)...whom I have met during our first meeting last last Thursday...and Ryal (interesting name hor?), Jacqueline, Ismawati and Kenneth...some of whom might not be gg Sri Lanka...but nice to have met them today :D

A group photo we took near the quarry...can't see the quarry in the photo though :P
From left: Kenneth, Ismawati, Swee Yin behind me, Jasmine, Jacqueline, Merey and Reef, Rwal and Hang Chong

After that, I went to NUS for a really quick shower...then I headed down to Jurong West to work...wow...the pharmacy is not easy to find when it's surrounded by pasar malam!!!
The first 2.5 hours, I had a pre-reg with me...he's really talkative...I feel thirsty for him!!! He just can't stop talking...whether it's to the customer or to me or the other staff...
After the pre-reg left, it's pretty much peace and quiet...not much customers...until tiwazz came :) thanx for visiting :D Chat with him for a while...then shake leg...then have dinner...then come back and shake leg til 9.30pm...then go home...got home at almost 11pm!!! Sianz...take so long to get home...dun like :P

I noticed JRW keeps very little POM items...even the P only items abit weird...no dextromethorphan syrup or tablets??!!! No stock is it or I blind??? No Durotuss expectorant also...ppl come with phlegmy cough...dun want Robitussin DM or separate mucolytic and cough suppressant...wat do I do? hehe...I was taking the Durotuss expectorant...taste weird man...Grenadine flavour...wat the heck is that?

Anyway, shall sleep soon...NB real run tomorrow morning!!! so excited!!!

Destress

Just handed in my CM5221 organic synthesis assessment yesterday...shall destress now and update my blog :)

I have not been very physically active since I started school!!! If not for all the races I'm participating in this month and next...I think I won't be running/swimming/cycling 2-3 times a week (inclusive of the race!!)

Sunday, 21 August

Sun...spent all day at home trying to finish my CM5221 assessment...I only went out to get dinner!!! Oh man...
In the end I din finish it...even with the help of Xi Kai's answers...hmmm...I'm sure gg to die in the exam!!!
At night I finished up the 2 (out of 8) safety videos I have to watch for the safety test this Fri...pretty much common sense :D

Monday, 22 August

Mon...went to school to work on my ligand for the docking project...I dun like to use Linux computer...not very user-friendly leh...
Then tried to finish my CM5221 assessment AGAIN!! Some questions I really dunno how to do lah...
Anyway, monday was all mugging, working, watching CM2121 webcast at night...and...err...surfing the sgrunner's forum...*oops*

Tuesday, 23 August

Tue...spent the whole morning and early afternoon at home...STILL finishing up my CM5221 assessment and watched CM2121 webcast...
Wanted to go school for lunch...but it started raining!!! If not for the lecture in the evening...I wouldn't have gone to school...but...oh well...
Another lecture where I realized I still have so much more to learn for organic synthesis...haiz...at least everyone thought his assignment was difficult...but the lecturer kept reminding us that we r supposed to be taking the "advanced" organic synthesis module...hehe...he can be quite amusing ;)

Oh...and on my way back...when I was boarding the bus...I banged my injured left wrist on the door!!! OOOOOOOUUCH!!! Looks like my left wrist is gg to be permanently injured :(

Wednesday, 24 August

Got to school early this morning to prepare more ligands on InsightII and dock them on HER2 receptor using Autodock...ah...my ligands and receptor are on different directories...cannot dock them...wat Linux command can I use to move a file from one directory to another?? In the end, I just resave the ligand file in the correct directory...shall find out how to move files another day...

Alright my ligands can dock nicely on the receptor...but it seem to dock at my other parts of the receptor too...hmm...gotta check with Dr Jois how to proceed next...today is his busy day...check with him tomorrow then :)

Came home early...then when for a short run...St Michael's Rd, Jln Tenteram, Jln Bahagia, Jln Rajah, Ah Hood Rd...then back...and I ran up to the 9th floor...actually it's more of walking lah...

Now I shall go back to my work...

Week of 15-20 August...Splashdown! 2005

Another busy busy week...

Very stressed out about my advanced organic synthesis module now :S
Never done any organic chemistry module during my undergrad years...closes I have done is pharm chem and med chem!!! Organic synthesis very very different...never heard of disconnections, synthons, synthetic equivalent etc....until I started reading the CM2121 Organic chemistry notes...oh man...that's just the basic which I need to learn and I'm taking the advanced module now...it's COMPULSORY for students under the Med Chem Program :(

Anyway, life has to go on...so I'm still running, swimming or cycling...less frequently though...

Monday, 15 August

I have finally started using the Linux computer for my molecular modelling and docking project...the first of my 4 week project...this is actually the second week...first week was spend on some background reading and waiting for my password to access the supercomputer ;P
Dr Jois taught me how to use Insight II...it's quite fun...something like a more sophisticated PCModel...but can only use on Linux OS...so I can't play with it at home :(
I also had to learn some simple Linux command so that I can use the software, InsightII and Autodock for my project...maybe if got time, I can learn Sybyl too...that's wat Prof Go wants me to use when I do my thesis project ;)

Went to attend the CM2121 lecture so that hopefully I can learn more on Basic Organic Synthesis...since I'm so so blur!!! Had a hard time finding the LT initally...well it says LT26 on the website...but apparently it's been changed to LT21...so near my lab and I had to walk all the way to LT26 to find out I'm in the wrong lecture!!!

Din run or anything today...just checked out the varsity swim team training...then go home :D

Tuesday, 16 August

Woke up early early in the morning...to go for a run at Sentosa with Jayce ;) Ran the same route as last time but this time din really go all the way into Tanjong Beach...just ran to the carpark entrance...then back to run on the sand at Palawan for a short distance...

After that bathe then go school...think I wasted a lot of time...din do much until the evening where I used the Linux computer to play around with InsightII...someone else was occupying the computer almost the whole day...computer hog!!!

Had my first CM5221 Advanced Organic Synthesis lecture today...it's just an introductory lecture but the lecturer, Dr Martin Lear, seems to expect us to know quite a lot for the subsequent lecture...the chemistry students were nodding away when he's talking abt the molecular orbital stuff...wah...jialat...can't catch wat he's talking abt!!! Die lah...I have a lot to catch up on...not to mention I haven't done the assessment he asked us to do...an assessment on basic organic synthesis based on his CM2121 lecture...he said "This is a simple set of basic organic chemistry questions, which you should be able to answer easily."...but I have no clue how to answer a single question...OMG!!! Really die lah!!!

Wednesday, 17 August

Found out that Martin Lear has webcast on his previous sem's lecture from Xi Kai...gotta get access to that man!!! Went to look for him...but he's not ard...email him...he added me as guest for that module in IVLE...but I still can't access the webcast :(

Decided to borrow Xi Kai's CM2121 notes and tutorials etc...

Thursday, 18 August

Went to look for Dr Lear again...meanwhile Prof Go also helped me asked one of the webcast support staff abt it...she good friend with the staff 'cos her lectures are also webcast...if not, a lot of ppl sure cannot follow her lecture one...she talk so superbly fast in lectures!!!

Finally after many tries...not sure wat he did...I finally could access the webcast...alright...now I have to go through all his lecture...doubt I can finish in a week or two...looks like I'm gonna be busy busy busy...

I have played enough of InsightII...Dr Jois taught Pankaz (another graduate student under him) and me how to get the HER2 receptor PDB file from the protein databank...load into the Linux comp...wow it's a big big structure...but I only need to concentrate on the part where Herceptin binds to it...phew...
We were also taught how to use Autdock...just need to set all the grid settings etc...then let the computer run the docking...no need to sit in front of computer all day ;)

Attended the CM2121 lecture again...

Then in the evening went to NUSS Guild House at Suntec City for a meeting with some ppl involved in the YEP trip to Sri Lanka for a turtle conservation project...oh ya...some lecturer in Chemistry (i/c of the med chem program) din wanna approve my leave for the trip...but after I told him I have spoken to Prof Go (whom I'll be attached to during that period) and she's fine with me gg...he had to approve it in the end...but he's still very unhappy...saying he won't let me go if I were attached to him...wah!!!

Friday, 19 August

Attended a chim chim seminar by one of the chemistry graduate...on total synthesis...was totally lost there...half way through my mind went into outer space...well at least I know I won't choose to do total synthesis now...let the chemistry ppl do it ;P

In the afternoon I cycled to Polar to collect my WearLink transmitter which was damaged...then went to ECP for the nature walk again...Soo Tong and Yanpei were there...yay :) After the walk cycled to Toa Payoh to pick up some stuff from TP2...been coughing and coughing lately with lotsa phlegm...so got a bottle of Duro-Tuss expectorant...wanted to taste it for once so that can say something when customers asked :D It doesn't taste very nice...kinda weird tasting...Grenadine flavor...no idea wat's that...
Wanted to find my 2L bottle of Ribena...went to Suntec City's Carrefour (on Thur), Marine Parade's NTUC Fairpirce, 2 Fairprice at Toa Payoh and Cold Storage at Toa Payoh but it's no where to be found :( sighz...

Saturday, 20 August

Splashdown aka NUS Mass swim is today!!! Went school early to play with InsightII and Autodock...then at almost 11am...went to buy some sushi to eat...and head down to the pool to register for the mass swim...I'm F03 out of 6 female participants!!! Got chance to get top 3 prize!!!
Waited ard at the pool side...saw Vicky...so went to talk to her...used to swim with her for KR's IHG training...but she's so much better now...top Singapore triathlete...beat a lot of guys some more!!!
We had a short briefing...then headed down to the pool...the swim started at 12noon...the gals are supposed to swim one direction in lane 7 then back on lane 8...the guys are split up to different lanes...some were with us...wah...they anyhow overtake and kick ppl one...so irritating...the breaststrokers were the worst...their stroke then to occupy more space and they tend to be slower than freestylers...gotta overtake them but kena kicked a few times :S
As time goes by...less and less swimmers were left...some swimmers left after the min 70 laps we have to swim to collect the goodie bags...
After 3 hours and 132 laps, I'm finally done!!! Vicky swam 200 laps...the guy that did the most lap only swam 190+ laps...
Did I mention for the competitive event, we have to swim under 2 barriers each lap??!! which means I swam under the barriers 264 times...no wonder it's so tiring...
Anyway, I got 3rd prize :) only 3 gals were left at the end of the swim...hehe...got a trophy and $25 ARENA voucher...yippee...can go buy swimming costume?? but have to go their warehouse and gotta make appt one...
Oh and I got a pair of PINK goggles from the lucky draw...oh man why does it have to be PINK...wat if a guy got it??!!!

After that, I left for Toa Payoh to get my NB real run race pack...met Renohtaram and Cyberkinetic at the Polar RS Launch...Renohtaram finally got his first HRM...the Polar RS200sd...so cool!!!

Got my dinner then I headed home...

Oh ya..have I mentioned I have been sneezing and sneezing since after the mass swim...can't do my work...that's why I'm posting this blog...hehe
My housemates said I have turned blacker also...3 hrs under sun...dun be shocked if u see me next time :D

Tomorrow is study study study...gotta finish the organic synthesis assessment...with the help of Xi Kai's answers :P

Ok now I shall continue with the Chem safety videos...in preparation for the test this coming fri...

Summary of workout...
Mon: slack
Tue: run ~6k
Wed: slack
Thur: slack

National day road relay, NUS triathlon and more

Haven't posted for a week now...but I have been running, swimming and cycling last week...on different days though...hehe...and of course I have been preparing for my studies too ;)

Tuesday, 9 August

Tue was National Day...did some reading in the morning...then afternoon went for the National Day Road Relay...got a ride from TLR to get to NUS...I ran abt 4 legs out of the 7 legs...skipped the first 2 legs...started from Ang Mo Kio to Bishan..continue to Toa Payoh...took bus from Toa Payoh to Novena...ran again from Novena to North Bridge Rd...took bus again...but we got stop after a very short run...'cos we were too fast...hehe...so I got out of the bus and joined the rest for the run from North Bridge Rd to the War Memorial Park :)
Can check out the map here

Wednesday, 10 August
Thursday, 11 August

Wed and Thur din do much...went to school on Wed but nothing to do there...so went home after lunch...was feeling quite lethargic...so go home and sleep...zzzz...Thur stayed at home to do some readings...no point gg to school...haven't got my password to access the Silicon Graphics computer to start on my molecular modelling and docking project...nothing to do in the library too...

Friday, 12 August

Fri...came to school to try settle some laptop issue...the T43 I wanted is sold out!!! *sob sob* dunno any chance of getting it still :(
Came to borrow some books to do this assessment on organic synthesis...wah...the lecturer said it's some simple questions that we shld know how to do...but...I haven't the slightest clue how to answer them...jialat...I'm not a chemistry student lah...never do this kind of things in undergrad years :( Why can't this lecturer sent us this assessment earlier...give me more time to prepare mah...now I got abt 12 days to study everything the undergrads were taught on organic synthesis!!! and out of this 12 days...half a day taken up for NUS tri and another half taken up for Splashdown (NUS Mass Swim)...
anyway, dun care...gotta destress...went to swim abt 1k at abt 11...then afternoon I cycled to ECP for Unity's nature walk...hehe...at night..study study study...in front of the tv...but not the computer...me can't get out of the sgrunners' forum once I get in there :P

Saturday, 13 August

Sat...study study study in the morning...then afternoon went to Polar at Beach Rd to send my transmitter for fixing...they r not opened on sats but Fiona was very nice to let me bring it for fixing since she'll be doing some work there anyway...gotta collect another day :)
After that, I cycled to ECP to meet the SWCT ladies and Ben...hehe...Ben is gg for the NUS tri too...he'll be the runner for his team though...hehe
Then it's back home, dinner, and study study study...
I have very short attention span...so although I seem to have a lot of "study study study" time...I dun think I have done much yet...*oops*

Sunday, 14 August

Sun...NUS triathlon!!! Got a ride from TLR again...it's team Beyond Boundaries (which includes Fd, official photographer) in the car :D

Got to Sentosa at abt 11.30am to get ready for our race which starts at 12.30pm...I only need to get my arms and legs marked...nothing much to prepare...
The briefing was really messy...confusing...but anyway...most of things we shld have checked out the website lah...swimmer just go 2 rounds...cyclist make a turn at the U-turn pt 5 times...
The first wave started at slightly pass 12.30...as usual it's a mess at the start...getting kicked, pushed etc etc...
I finished the swimming leg in abt 11 min 30 plus seconds....confirmed not 800m lah...I can't even swim that fast in the pool...wat more in the sea, swimming zigzag...
Passed on the championship chip to Johari...our powerful cyclist!!! and off he went...not sure wat position I was went I came in...but Johari came back number 4 or 5...excluding this team that was very fast 'cos the cyclist did only 3 laps for the cycling route...he claimed the officials asked him to turn back one!!!
After that it's TLR's turn to run...quick quick...dunno got chance for top 3 or not :S
ALAS...we got 4th position...prizes for top 3 only...sighz...
After the race, we washed up...then went for dinner after sending Johari back to his happening HDB "condo"...got garden outside his "condo" one!!! can get pandan leaf, sugar cane etc etc!!!
At night...study study study again...
Did I mentioned that everytime I study study study at home...it's in front of the tv...sometimes tv watch me, other times I watch tv ;P

Monday, 15 August

Today...it's back to school...

Wed: slack
Thur: slack
Fri: swim 1k, cycle 20k, walk 4k
Sat: cycle 35k
Sun: swim 500m? slack sia...wanted to go for a run after the swim..but was too lazy ;P

National day weekend

It's a long weekend for those who take leave today...because of National Day tomorrow :)
But guess wat I did the past 2 days? WORK!!
Haha...pharmacist take leave...so locum pharmacist get to work :P

Saturday, 6 August

Sat morning I went to the lab to do some work...then after a while I went down to the SRC for Rag Day...only saw the last few floats which includes KR's float!!
Unfortunately I have to say our float this year is not very impressive...not much mechanical movement...the dance was very different too...so sweet...kinda ballet style :)
This year there r 2 additional floats...one by NUS staff...wah...so happening!! The other by class of 1972...they were so onz...sang song and dance some more :)

After the presentation, it was a lot of waiting *sianz*...after a damn long wait, they announced the flag results...KR got gold award this year...and we got the best flag collection award...beat EH...wah...impressive!!! Science also beat Bizad to get the best flag collection award...haha...suddenly I'm so proud to belong to Science...although I din contribute at all :P
For rag, we only managed to get Most environmentally friendly float award...most of the other awards went to SH...and EH got the Chancellor's shield...Science got it too for the faculty side :D

After the prize presentation, we went to take photo with our float...then had lunch at McDonald's. After lunch, I took a bath...then went back to the lab to kill some time before I have to head off to work at BPP...spent too much time in the lab...ended up taking cab to work...waste money :P

From BPP to my place, it's only abt 30-45 mins journey...not bad huh? Managed to get home before 11pm...yay :)

Sunday, 7 August

Sun I also worked at BPP...both days are quite ok...not too busy...not too boring...but as usual the customers come in in a swarm..then disappear together too ;)
I only dispensed one script in 2 days...and it's from one of our promoter...haha :D

After work, I went to Toa Payoh to sign up for AHM and Mizuno Wave Run...met up for dinner with the Sgrunners who went for the MR25 run...TLR, Fd, Carine, Muggs, Brokenrunner, Alvo and Meteor :) All of them are MR25 members now...hmm...except Fd and Meteor? not sure she ran or not...Fd still official jaga cum photographer :D
After dinner, we went to sign up for the Mizuno Wave Run tog...TLR, Meteor and I...I also signed up for Jayce and Elaine...Elaine, Jayce and I signed up for the same category so we have consecutive numbers...8123, 8124 and 8125...hehe...so cool :D

All rite...so now I have gotta get ready for Mizuno Wave Run and AHM...and NB aquathlon too...haven't registered though :P

Monday, 8 August

Today...back in school...nothing much to do though...maybe shall go for haircut later...then gotta work at TPY2 at night...hmm...me covering TPY2 and BPP...guess who's on leave :P

Friday, August 05, 2005

Swim, movie, cycle

That's my highlight for the past 3 days...hehe

Wednesday I went to swim after all the boring *yawnz* talks at NUS...some introductory and motivational crap...part of my orientation program for this week...haiz...
The swim was at Farrer Park Swimming Complex...the COMcurrent Swim...everyone can swim as long as they like...from 3 to 10pm...while someone...oops..can't remember who...is swimming across the icy cold English Channel *brrrrr*
Got free mee siam and milo after the swim...hee :D
I swam 2.5km for that :)

Thursday...no workout day...I have been exercising a lot lately...almost everyday...gotta cut down soon...can't afford to spend so much time like that :( My supervisor said I'm doing all the wrong things when she asked me "what have u been doing lately" and I said "swim and run"...I think she wanted an answer like..."oh..I have been reading up a lot on med chem stuff" *nerd*
Anyway, thurs' talk was more relevant...safety talks...general overview on handling chemicals and stuff like that...wow...the chemistry labs are really messy!!! luckily the pharmacy dept's chem lab is in much better condition :)
In the evening I went to Great World to watch "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory"...hee...very nice show...but I was so tired...kept yawning away *oops*
I have never read the book before...but it's very easy to follow the movie...unlike Harry Potter where u can get quite lost!!! But I can't wait to watch Harry Potter...yes...I'm a Harry Potter fan....finished reading the 6th book :)
Why does J.K Rowling always have to make ppl I like die in such an "un-glam" way :(

Today...I cycled to NUS (17.4km via Bukit Timah and Clementi Rd)...wah...luckily I cycled...think I got to NUS faster than by bus...there's such a massive traffic jam at Clementi Rd...wonder is it like this all the time at ard 8.45am?? I got to NUS in 50 mins...usually without jam, it's a 40 min bus ride...
Today's talk is on First Aid and Fire Safety Awareness...the first aid talk is a good refresher for me...haven't practice any first aid since I got my cert a year ago...well, it's good news when there's no need for first aid rite?
After that, I cycled to ECP for Unity's naturewalk...then home...clocked a total distance of 60k!!! Shack now...

Shall do some work...then shall sleep early today :)
Tomorrow is Rag Day in NUS :D
...and I gotta work in the evening at Bukit Panjang...busy busy day...

"Run together session" at ECP

Been busy the last few days...

Had our second "run together session" at ECP last Sunday...
Again I woke up early...had breakfast...then cycled to ECP...took only slightly more than half an hour to reach carpark C2...
When I reached there, TLR, carine, taz, kay and muggs were there already...then came "not" brokenrunner...hehe...Fd sabo me...din come :P She was busy lah...

Since everyone was running, I decided to run with them to Fort Rd and back to carpark C2...then I'll continue cycling the whole route again to check out the distance...hey sounds like duathlon...but reversed...cycle run cycle..hehe

The distance from Fort Rd to carpark C2 is 3km...so I ran abt 6km...then from carpark C2 till the end of the running/cycling path was abt 8km...I took the cycling path from carpark C2 to the end...then waited for the sgrunners...and cycled back behind them on the running path...like some support vehicle...except them I'm not giving them any support...haha :P

After the run/cycle, everyone washed up except me...since I'm already dry and I'm gg to get sweaty again when I cycle back home...then we had bfast at McDonald's again :)

Then it's time to head home again...decided to use a route which I can use to run from home to Marine Parade for the Unity Naturewalk recee this morning...it's abt 8+km...

So the distance/time I clocked was...
10k cycle, 6km run, 22km cycle, 1hr bfast, 10km cycle...hee

KR alumni BBQ

The BBQ last sat nite at KR was great!!!

Food was ok..nothing special...but it was great to see quite a number of laolangs!!
The oldest laolang (by batch) and the only one from his batch was...Kum Chuen...hehe...he was asked to give a motivational talk to the freshies and he got us to sing the KR anthem...those from older than my batch (which was Godwin and Shin only...Wei Tee, Jayce and Shiyin were lucky to have siamed it..haha) ended up singing with the hand action...luckily my batch onwards, we dun do that anymore *phew*

Think all the JCRC presidents from Kum Chuen's year onwards were there...Godwin, Larry, Qinghuan, Vincent...hmm...all tall guys...
Talking about tall guys...E4 was there too!!! Qinghuan, Vincent, Hongfeng, Chin...
The other laolangs I remembered seeing were...Mavis, Silin, Chin Xinyi, Wanlyn aka neighbour, Siew mai, Pearlyn, Junwei, Pengfei, Ryan, Elwin Boo (wow...haven't seen u for so long!!!)...and other blocks ones...Weeliam, Nicholas Tay, Aimay, Lionel and many more...can't remember liao ;P

So much has changed since I stayed in KR during my first year...location has changed, all the RFs and master have changed, caterer has changed? hehe, and of course, the residents are different...but one thing that'll never change is us...once a Kentridgean always a Kentridgean...sounds like the good night song...hehe

Year came, year past
Many things have changed
Once was there, now is gone
Once was empty, now is filled

What the new sights and sounds may be
There's one thing that'll never change
A family, that's what we are
Your burden is mine to carry
And your joy is mine to share
Together we have laughter
Together we have tears
'cause your my brother, and your sister
And we are family!!!

After the BBQ, some of us went on to Fong Seng for a drink and chat...reminizing on those good old days :)

Till we meet again...Rag day this weekend?..or is there a Rag preview?
