After a good relaxing day, it's back to work today...
Those who din do the replanting previously...went to the beach for a clean-up in the morning...while the rest of us proceeded to the temple...
Spent all day building shelves...managed to assemble 15 shelves that morning...the other grp joined us for lunch...then stayed on for shelf-building...
Jasmine and Ryal left early b4 lunch to do some grocery shopping...and then went straight home 'cos tonight is our special hainanese chicken dinner with aunty kalyani and family!!
The rest of us managed to build another 14 shelves...from scratch..including sawing the timber but this time with a powered saw...
Dinner was great...but I think the sri lankan are not really into soup...so we had a lot of soup...containing minced chicken ball and cabbage...to ourselves...yummy...
When we were almost done, Jacq got a call from the scientific officer, shanka...a green turtle has just came up to the beach...so we quickly packed up...then Hang chong and I kancheong...quickly rushed out to the beach...the rest came later...some in Engwan's car 'cos he's fetching aunty kalyani's family too...
On the way to the TCP hut, we saw a false crawl...hmm...that looks fresh...later we found out that was made by the turtle Shanka told us abt...but he said that the turtle will most prob come back as it was still early...that was abt 8 plus...turtles usually come ard 9pm to 3am...
So we decided to nua there...and true enough…at abt 9.50pm the turtle came back!!! So excited!!! But we had to stay far far away….until the turtle has found its spot…think it spent abt half an hour on the sand b4 it finally found a spot and start digging…then we approached…with caution…staying out of the turtle’s vision…first it’ll dig a body pit…then the nest…as it starts digging the nest…we approach closer to the turtle….used Ryal’s night vision goggles to see wat the turtle was doing…
Finally the turtle was done digging….after more than an hour!!!...
Then it started laying eggs…so cool…first time seeing turtle laying eggs…hehe…do I sound sua ku?
Anyway, the first 10 eggs were collected by the scientific officer for some measurements….meanwhile the rest of us kept taking photos…I din bother…so many cameras liao…just take their photos lah….
After the scientific officer weighed only 4 eggs…the turtle seem to have finished laying its eggs…so the eggs were quickly put back into the nest...
After that it spent another 15 minutes or so covering up the nest…we were so tempted to help the turtle…hehe…then we followed it back into the sea….we were such paparazzi man!! Keep taking photos…and almost blocking its way…the turtle seem to move in a bit of a zigzag manner…must be us…
When the turtle reached the sea…suddenly…now u see, now u dun…the wave brought the turtle into the sea so suddenly…
Then we helped the scientific officer with the measurement of the turtle track…hanged ard for a while…then went home…then zzzzzzz
