Glucosamine sulphate

How do u explain wat's the sulphate in glucosamine sulphate to a layman?

Questions they would ask...
Q: Is it the same as sulphur?
A: No. But I dunno how to explain how it's different...sulphur is S, sulphate is SO4?

Q: So if I'm allergic to sulphur drugs, can I take glucosamine sulphate?
A: Can lah. Unless u allergic to glucosamine also, or maybe if u allergic to seafood, u might wanna be careful. Sulphur drug allergy is usually allergy to the sulphonamide groups...present in drugs like Bactrim and Celebrex :P

So how to explain wat's sulphate?
