National day road relay, NUS triathlon and more

Haven't posted for a week now...but I have been running, swimming and cycling last week...on different days though...hehe...and of course I have been preparing for my studies too ;)

Tuesday, 9 August

Tue was National Day...did some reading in the morning...then afternoon went for the National Day Road Relay...got a ride from TLR to get to NUS...I ran abt 4 legs out of the 7 legs...skipped the first 2 legs...started from Ang Mo Kio to Bishan..continue to Toa Payoh...took bus from Toa Payoh to Novena...ran again from Novena to North Bridge Rd...took bus again...but we got stop after a very short run...'cos we were too fast...hehe...so I got out of the bus and joined the rest for the run from North Bridge Rd to the War Memorial Park :)
Can check out the map here

Friday, 12 August

Fri...came to school to try settle some laptop issue...the T43 I wanted is sold out!!! *sob sob* dunno any chance of getting it still :(
Came to borrow some books to do this assessment on organic synthesis...wah...the lecturer said it's some simple questions that we shld know how to do...but...I haven't the slightest clue how to answer them...jialat...I'm not a chemistry student lah...never do this kind of things in undergrad years :( Why can't this lecturer sent us this assessment earlier...give me more time to prepare mah...now I got abt 12 days to study everything the undergrads were taught on organic synthesis!!! and out of this 12 days...half a day taken up for NUS tri and another half taken up for Splashdown (NUS Mass Swim)...
anyway, dun care...gotta destress...went to swim abt 1k at abt 11...then afternoon I cycled to ECP for Unity's nature walk...hehe...at night..study study study...in front of the tv...but not the computer...me can't get out of the sgrunners' forum once I get in there :P

Saturday, 13 August

Sat...study study study in the morning...then afternoon went to Polar at Beach Rd to send my transmitter for fixing...they r not opened on sats but Fiona was very nice to let me bring it for fixing since she'll be doing some work there anyway...gotta collect another day :)
After that, I cycled to ECP to meet the SWCT ladies and Ben...hehe...Ben is gg for the NUS tri too...he'll be the runner for his team though...hehe
Then it's back home, dinner, and study study study...
I have very short attention span...so although I seem to have a lot of "study study study" time...I dun think I have done much yet...*oops*

Sunday, 14 August

Sun...NUS triathlon!!! Got a ride from TLR again...it's team Beyond Boundaries (which includes Fd, official photographer) in the car :D

Got to Sentosa at abt 11.30am to get ready for our race which starts at 12.30pm...I only need to get my arms and legs marked...nothing much to prepare...
The briefing was really messy...confusing...but anyway...most of things we shld have checked out the website lah...swimmer just go 2 rounds...cyclist make a turn at the U-turn pt 5 times...
The first wave started at slightly pass 12.30...as usual it's a mess at the start...getting kicked, pushed etc etc...
I finished the swimming leg in abt 11 min 30 plus seconds....confirmed not 800m lah...I can't even swim that fast in the pool...wat more in the sea, swimming zigzag...
Passed on the championship chip to Johari...our powerful cyclist!!! and off he went...not sure wat position I was went I came in...but Johari came back number 4 or 5...excluding this team that was very fast 'cos the cyclist did only 3 laps for the cycling route...he claimed the officials asked him to turn back one!!!
After that it's TLR's turn to run...quick quick...dunno got chance for top 3 or not :S
ALAS...we got 4th position...prizes for top 3 only...sighz...
After the race, we washed up...then went for dinner after sending Johari back to his happening HDB "condo"...got garden outside his "condo" one!!! can get pandan leaf, sugar cane etc etc!!!
At night...study study study again...
Did I mentioned that everytime I study study study at home...it's in front of the tv...sometimes tv watch me, other times I watch tv ;P

Hi tiwazz..

thanx for visiting my blog :)

anyway, me not too sure abt performance after blood donation...just started donating this year...and dun monitor my performance very closely so it's quite hard to say..

I would think it'll affect performance slightly as u would have less hemoglobin in the blood to carry oxygen all over ur body...we use a lot more oxygen when we exercise!!!

i read on another forum, after blood donation, u r around 10-20% weaker.(Eg same amount of distance ran, same timing, but heart rate is faster) Some folks dont feel it, some do.

After every blood donation i tend to go "slow" for a couple of weeks then pick up the pace again.

I have a bad/scary experience last year, where i go diving next day after blood donation. I was hyperventile at 30metres, almost freak out. Not an experience i will like to go through again. Now, have a bit of phobia going down.;(
